Research to Inform Vaccine Design and Clinical Trial Design

The UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program provides technical and logistical support to other IAVI partners in Uganda who are conducting clinical research and observational studies.
Protocol B (evaluating incidence of new HIV infection) is enrolling volunteers at 2 Medical Research Council (MRC) research sites in Uganda. These cohorts include sexually active couples with discordant HIV status. Data derived from protocol B will aid in the selection of future locations for vaccine efficacy trials.
UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program is providing laboratory support for processing and shipping samples, laboratory training and QA, and coordination of clinical training and monitoring.
