Community and Advocacy Services

This is to ensure the creation and maintenance of robust stakeholder engagement and advocacy initiatives to ensure support for HIV Vaccine research. 
UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program works closely with different stakeholders both at national and grassroots level for effective involvement in HIV vaccine research and this department is at the heart of the above function.  
Specifically, the department�s major responsibilities are to:

• Engage with grassroots, national and global stakeholders through networking, partnerships, advocacy and communication in order to ensure a supportive environment for HIV prevention research.
• Mobilize and sensitize communities in order to support potential study volunteers� education, enrolment and follow up. These efforts also contribute to the retention of study volunteers.
• Support access to healthcare, HIV services and family planning through conduct of assessments and social/behavioral studies and through fostering partnerships and collaborations with appropriate service providers.
• Spearhead the UVRI-IAVI HIV Vaccine Program�s social science agenda.
